WHAT WE LEARN

DP Subject Groups

The DP students engage in a rich and balanced curriculum, ensuring both breadth and depth of learning across disciplines. The wide range of subjects offered are categorised into six subject groups:

  • Language & Literature
  • Language Acquisition (Mandarin)
  • Individuals & Societies
  • Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • The Arts

Apart from the subjects, DP students are also expected to fulfill the requirements of the Core of IBDP:

  • Theory of Knowledge
  • Extended Essay
  • Creativity
  • Activity
  • Service

Extended Essay (EE)

The EE is an independent research project where DP students explore a topic of personal interest through strong academic writing. The EE provides DP students the opportunity to research, develop, and critically analyse their chosen topic in the form of a 4000-word essay. This experience equips the students with the skills needed to excel in research projects or dissertations in the university.

Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS)

CAS is an ongoing learning experience in DP that promotes students to pursue self-initiated artistic, physical, and service-based activities. The experiences gained via CAS activities help them to become balanced, active, and socially responsible members of their community.

Theory of Knowledge (TOK)

TOK drives students to think critically about knowledge itself by exploring different perspectives and ways of thinking. The culmination of TOK learning is showcased by the students through a reflective essay and an engaging exhibition.

HOW WE LEARN

Learning in the DP is designed by integrating:

  • Student-Centered Approach
  • Collaborative & Research-Based Activities
  • Theory Of Knowledge
  • Approach To Learning (ATL) Skills
  • Experiential Learning & Real Life Applications
  • International Mindedness

The learning experiences in the DP provide students with opportunities to connect classroom learning experiences to real-world contexts, cultural perspectives, and ethical considerations.

HOW WE ASSESS

The DP students are assessed continuously with a wide range of internal and external assessments. These include:

School-Based Formative & Summative Assessments

Aligned with the philosophies and framework of the IBDP.

IBDP Internal Assessments (IA)

In the form of coursework such as oral presentations, investigations, and projects, which are internally assessed by the teachers and externally moderated by the IB.

IBDP External Assessments (EA)

In the form of paper-based examinations, set and assessed externally by the IB.

Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, application of knowledge in a global perspective, and problem-solving rather than just rote memorisation. Students receive feedback throughout the programme to support growth and reflection, with final results recognized by leading universities worldwide.
